A feeling of ‘being heard’
Dear Sir,
On February 9 last year, I wrote a letter, “Ways to improve sport facilities”, in Gulf Times to point out some issues that needed to be addressed on the cycling track in the Ras Abu Aboud area.
When I was biking on the track in the area the other day, I was extremely happy to note that most of the issues I had brought out in that letter had been addressed by the authorities. Wonderful.
As I was cycling in the sunny weather with a cool breeze caressing me, I noticed the wild bush at the Tabouk Street junction has been neatly trimmed. Because of that the approaching road is quite visible to bikers from here now.
Also, I found a porta-potty (portable toilet) alongside the cycling track, maybe meant for site workers. But I hope that it could be used by bikers/walkers at times.
All shrubs, plants and palm trees planted a year ago have grown and blossomed now, painting a rich green look to the area.
I also noticed beautifully, artistically-created stone benches with shades for people to rest for a while in the 8.5km stretch at several places.
Authorities could think of one or two more porta-potties and drinking water lines (as provided in the new children’s park opposite Souq Waqif, above the new basement vehicle parking).
I ended my cycling with complete joy of “being heard”. And thank you Gulf Times for providing a platform to share our thoughts, suggestions and ideas.
