Ashghal briefs CMC on management of extra heavy vehicles

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has sophisticated guidelines for the implementation of road works and management of the movement of extra heavy vehicles on the roads, the Central Municipal Council (CMC) was told yesterday.
At its bi-weekly regular session yesterday, the council hosted a number of officials from Ashghal, the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP), Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, the Ministry of Environment (MoE) and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, besides the director of Al Wakrah Municipality and other officials from Al Rayyan and Doha Municipalities.  
Engineer Abdulla Ahan, Ashghal director of road design department, gave a presentation on Ashghal Road Corridor Management Office, where he briefed the council on the precautionary procedures in mainlining traffic diversions and the strategy followed in granting contractors of different sectors licences to undertake deep road excavation works.
In addition, he pointed out the procedures taken in managing the routes of extra heavy vehicles and equipment on the roads, especially those with high elevations to avoid damage to flyovers and public property.
