Qatar Development Bank’s (QDB) export promotion arm, Tasdeer, supported the debut of 26 Qatari companies’ “Made in Qatar” goods and services at the “Big 5 Jeddah 2015” held from March 9 to 12 in Jeddah.
The event is one of the largest construction exhibitions in the region and a “powerful platform” gathering stakeholders, professionals, and specialists across the Middle East and North Africa’s (Mena) booming construction and building trades sectors, QDB said.
Tasdeer executive director Hassan Khalifa al-Mansouri said, “We are pleased to continually see such strong participation from Qatari companies at Big 5. Through Tasdeer, QDB plays a critical role in supporting Qatari companies through trade and export promotion and countless other services for the private sector. Our participation in Jeddah follows a successful, multi-year run at Big 5 Dubai, and we are thrilled to be expanding the reach of Qatari companies in strategic markets.”
The QDB-backed Qatar pavilion at Big 5 Jeddah gathered companies from the construction industry, including plastics manufacturing, wood processing, aluminium and glass sales and installation, fibre optics, gypsum works, electrical works, and interior design.
Prior to the Jeddah exhibition, Tasdeer sponsored the national pavilion for several consecutive years at the Dubai edition of Big 5, helping Qatari companies book millions of Qatari riyals in new orders each year.
The Big 5 series of exhibitions is a place for industry leaders to network, unveil new products, and sign deals. Thousands of visitors flocked to the event, which saw representation from 39 countries. The exhibition has grown by 88% over the past four years.
