The Advisory Council has approved a draft law that regulates the transplant of human organs during its regular weekly session. The law includes 28 articles and bans any operations of transplant of human organs, cells or tissues or part of them other than stipulated in the law. Further, it completely bans the transplant of reproductive organs from either a living or dead donors and planting them into the body of another living person to avoid any potential mixture in progeny.
In the meantime, any person enjoys the full right to donate or wish the donation of any of his body organs, tissues or cells through a written affidavit with the witness of two eligible persons.
However, the potential donor has the full right to draw back his decision any time before the operation without any liabilities on him.
Besides, the donor name and identity shall not be revealed unless in donation for specified cases.
No organ shall be extracted from the body of any living person that may lead to his death or a permanent damage to the natural functioning of his body.
Further, such operations are to be done only at the authorised hospitals, where an authorised committee is formed at each of these hospitals by a decision of the Minister.
Such committees are authorised to approve any operation of organ transplant, Arabic daily Arrayah said.
