A commercial dispute of a value of QR120mn between a local company and a joint venture has been successfully resolved recently by the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) at Qatar Chamber (QC).
QC chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani said QICCA managed to settle the differences between the two companies in a friendly manner, which “enhances the role of the centre in achieving its original target”.
The dispute was regarding works undertaken by these companies at a major infrastructure project in the country.
Earlier, the Qatari company submitted a petition to the QICCA, supported by all the necessary documents about the dispute regarding some financial issues with the joint venture company. Accordingly, QICCA studied the case and maintained close communication with all the parties, asking them to give the centre some time to work out a friendly and fair solution that allowed both the parties to continue their work on the project without any potential delay.
Sheikh Khalifa pointed out that the achievement was another success to the Centre, which has helped resolve many such issues since its establishment in 2006. He stressed that the QICCA would continue its efforts to qualify commercial arbitrators and improve their professional performance through the various training programmes conducted by the Centre at QC.
