Stallions Academy, a Youth Cricket Academy in Qatar, won the recently-concluded under-14 Inter Academy Cricket Tournament. The tournament, in its second consecutive year, was organised by Doha Cricket Academy and had more than six teams vying for the honours.
The final was played on April 4 between Stallions and Doha Cricket Academy.
Commenting on the Stallions achievement, head coach Sidath Tennakoon said “We are delighted with this win. The team played really well and it’s a fulfilling experience to see young players perform so well as a team. As an academy we are very keen on teaching them cricket skills and also other attributes such as leadership and sportsmanship. Tournaments such as this help them to fine tune all those skills.”
Stallions players won special awards as well for their performances. Navjot Singh was named Best All-rounder, and Ameesha Jabir as Best Bowler of the tournament, while Romelo Kumarage was adjudged the Best Performer of the Final.
Stallions Cricket Academy, which started in 2013, is preparing to tour Sri Lanka in August. This is their second tour after the one to the UK in last year.
