Commercial Bank wins National Global Management Challenge

A team from Commercial Bank has won the National Global Management Challenge and will now represent Qatar in the International Global Management Challenge in Prague, Czech Republic, during this month.
The Global Management Challenge (GMC) is the largest strategy and management competition in the world, with more than 500,000 company managers and universities participating globally. The GMC involves a management simulation where each team manages a company with the objective of achieving the highest investment performance.
Commercial Bank entered three teams into the GMC in October 2014 - “DFNAH”, “Everything is possible” and “Those guys on the table”, who competed against more than 30 teams from Qatari institutions such as Qatar University, Georgetown University, ELAN and Qatar Rail.
Through managing their simulated companies, Commercial Bank staff had the opportunity to showcase their ability to think strategically, understand financial aspects of business management, demonstrate flexibility in a dynamic environment and embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship.
After several rounds of elimination, two of three Commercial Bank teams progressed to the national final against strong competition. While team “DFNAH” was crowned the winner, team “Everything is possible” secured second place to bring the national trophy to Commercial Bank.
National champions “DFNAH”, comprising Commercial Bank staff members Nemr Khalifeh, Abdulrahman Zaghmout and Donna Rifka, will now fly the flag for Qatar at the International Global Management Challenge in Prague, where they will compete against teams from more than 15 countries.
Commercial Bank CEO Abdulla Saleh al-Raisi said, “My heartfelt congratulations go to members of both Commercial Bank teams for their first and second place at the Global Management Challenge. By managing a company and taking top management decisions in a simulated environment, our staff received an enhanced learning experience and developed skills that have real-world applications. The ‘DFNAH’ team will be proudly representing Commercial Bank and Qatar at the international finals in Prague and on behalf of all at Commercial Bank, I wish them the best of luck.”
