HE the Minister of Finance Ali Sherif al-Emadi yesterday met with US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew and International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Christine Lagarde on the sidelines of his participation in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group which concluded in Washington yesterday.
During his meeting with Lew, the finance minister discussed “issues of common concern and ways to advance relations”, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) said.
In the meeting with IMF chief, al-Emadi discussed “economic issues and ways to enhance co-operation between Qatar and the International Monetary Fund”, QNA said.
The meetings were attended by Qatar Investment Authority CEO Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud al-Thani, Qatar Central Bank deputy governor Sheikh Fahad bin Faisal al-Thani and Qatar’s ambassador to the US, Mohamed Jaham al -Kuwari.
The finance minister witnessed the signing of an agreement to launch a programme to develop technical co-operation between the Qatar Central Bank and the World Bank at the World Bank’s headquarters.
