Temporary diversion on Al Rayyan Road

Doha

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will put in place a temporary traffic diversion on the Al Rayyan Road eastbound (South side of Al Rayyan) from 22 February Roundabout to the Sports Roundabout at the Jassim Bin Hamad intersection.
Traffic on the Al Rayyan Road is being diverted while maintaining the three existing lanes (as shown in attached map). The diversion will begin on April 24 (Friday) and will remain for 18 months.
The diversion will be in place to allow for the construction of an underpass beneath Al Rayyan Road as part of the upgrade and construction of Al Rayyan Road Project.
The underpass will allow commuters from the Al Rayyan Road and driving eastbound towards the Jassim Bin Hamad Street without having to drive to the Sports Roundabout.
The underpass will also allow vehicles heading southbound along Jassim Bin Hamad Street to reach the Sports Roundabout without having to pass through the 22 February Roundabout.
The westbound carriageway, the Northside of Al Rayyan Road from the Sports Roundabout to 22 February Roundabout will remain open for the time being and a similar traffic diversion will be in place at a later time in a way that does not affect the commuters.
The current diversion which is around 800 metres in length will not affect commuter traffic in any way as it maintains the same number of lanes as the existing road.
