Qatar Charity (QC) received a total of QR920mn in donations last year, marking a 43% increase over the previous year, an annual report on the organisation’s performance in 2014 shows.
QC recently held its general assembly, which was attended by its chairman Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim al-Thani and other board members.
The annual performance report revealed that spending on charity projects and support grew by 51% in 2014 compared to 2013, while administrative spending dropped by 4.59% during the same period.
The report also shows that QC’s cultural and educational programmes within Qatar increased by 43% in 2014. Similarly, local aid volume rose by 35% in the same period.
Meanwhile, the number of Qatari employees in QC stood at 53 in 2014 - an increase of 20% compared to 2013. The report further stated that external aid and support given to orphans rose by 51% in 2014. There were 76,093 sponsored orphans and other needy persons in 34 countries around the world, an increase of 22% over 2013.
In 2014, QC implemented 133 charity projects at a cost of QR119mn for the benefit of 2.25mn people in 16 countries. The total sum spent on QC’s charity projects abroad amounted to QC619mn in 2014, a 44% rise over 2013. These projects covered 72 countries.
