Katara Hospitality has won two prestigious awards at the 2015 World Travel Awards at a ceremony held in Dubai.

The global hotel developer, owner and operator based in Qatar bagged the “Middle East’s Leading Hospitality Development Company” for the second consecutive year, and the “Middle East Leading Tourism Development Project” for the iconic Katara Towers development in the Marina District of Doha’s Lusail City.

Katara Hospitality CEO and Board Member Hamad Abdulla al-Mulla received the awards at the event which was attended by key travel, tourism and hospitality executives.

“This continued recognition as a leading hospitality company reflects Katara Hospitality’s milestone achievements in contributing to the hospitality industry through investment and development of the world’s most spectacular properties,” said HE Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, chairman of Katara Hospitality.

“We will continue to strive for hospitality excellence as we progress with our regional and global expansion,” he added.

In its 22nd anniversary year, the World Travel Awards are deemed as the most prestigious and comprehensive in the travel and tourism industry.

During the last year alone, more than 650,000 individual votes were cast by travel professionals and high-end tourism consumers.

The award winning Katara Towers, expected to open in early 2018, reflect an architectural translation of Qatar’s national seal, representing the traditional scimitar swords.

A natural extension of Doha city, Lusail has been designed to encompass a modern, luxurious yet practical business and residential environment while being relevant for Qatar’s thriving economy.

The arched towers will host a luxurious five-star deluxe hotel and residences to cater to discerning business travellers. The property will have a total of 604 rooms. State-of-the-art entertainment and recreational facilities, including specialist boutiques, VIP movie theatres, signature restaurants and a private Cigar Lounge are to be complemented by exquisite banqueting and conference spaces, as well as office dedicated areas.

The Katara Towers project was recently enhanced with the commissioning of a man-made satellite beach-front island.

Home to a range of leisure and water sports facilities, food and beverage outlets as well as world-class water parks within a stunning garden environment, the development truly is a sight to be seen.

Linked to the Katara Towers promenade by bridges, this spectacular feature pins this property as a reference landmark within the global hospitality landscape.

“Our aim was to create the hospitality icon of the 21st century that is within one of the world’s most exciting urban developments,” said al-Mulla. “Our vision is to set new standards that go beyond the borders of the hospitality industry and provide a landmark location that is instantly recognised internationally.”

Katara Hospitality was named the World’s Leading Hospitality Company at the 2013 and 2014 World Travel Awards. In 2014, the organisation was also honoured as the Middle East’s Leading Hospitality Development Company.
