The French Embassy in Qatar and French Team 4 Sport held a networking event at the French Residence yesterday, aimed at presenting and releasing the new French Team 4 Sport brochure to Qatari organisations and media representatives.
This event was organised two weeks after the French President’s visit to Qatar, during which a declaration of intention was signed between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and France regarding the bilateral cooperation for the preparation of the Football World Cup 2022.
This declaration emphasises the role of French Team 4 Sport in merging major companies and innovative SMEs from France for key upcoming sports events in Qatar.
During the event, the French ambassador to Qatar, Eric Chevallier, underlined the excellent relationship between Qatar and France and the wide opportunities of cooperation between the two countries in the sport sector.
“During his official visit to Qatar on May 4th, the French President François Hollande congratulated His Highness the Emir of Qatar for the organisation of the World Cup 2022 and welcomed the cooperation deeply rooted between Qatar and France in the field of Sports. During the visit of the Minister of Interior Bernard Cazeneuve on the 20th of October 2014, an agreement was signed between the French national Gendarmerie (Gendarmerie nationale) and Qatar ISF (Lekhwiya) for security of sports events.
“Another agreement, regarding the bilateral cooperation in the field of sport in all sectors, was signed between the Ministers of Sports of the two countries on the 1st of February of this year,” said Chevallier.
The French Ambassador added: “Through the years, French companies have accumulated a strong experience and expertise related to the organisation of sports events. For Qatar, most of them are gathered under the French Team 4 Sport banner”.
The “French Team 4 Sport” initiative promotes the French know-how in Qatar and provides an integrated offer to participate in the implementation of sport related projects. Gathering the best French companies, from SMEs to the largest groups, this initiative includes four clusters: Construction & Transportation, Energy & Environment, Security & Telecommunications and Media, Events and Services.
French Team 4 Sport brings solutions to the entire sporting events’ value chain as well as innovative responses to address the challenges of organising major sport events.
The meeting at the French Residence also offered a networking opportunity for French and Qatari companies to discuss their specific fields of work, share experiences and explore cooperation in all activities related to the sport development which is witnessing a huge boom in Qatar. French Team 4 Sport aims at helping local businesses to get in touch with their French counterparts and make the best use of the French experience.
