Aspire to host Ramadan Futsal Championship for banks


Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) announced a Ramadan Futsal Championship (6X6) for banks in Qatar and conducted the draw for the order of the different games yesterday. The tournament is held for the first time within the AZF’s programme for the month of Ramadan, in collaboration with Qatar Central Bank.
Nasser Abdullah al-Hajri, marketing director AZF, Ali al-Athba, from the Public Relations Department of Qatar Central Bank took part in a press conference to provide the details of the competition.
The conference was attended by representatives of all the banks participating in the tournament, namely: Qatar National Bank (QNB), Masraf Al Rayan, Barwa Bank, Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), International Bank of Qatar (IBQ), Commercial Bank (CBQ), Doha Bank, and Qatar Development Bank (QDB).
Al-Hajri said: “We are delighted to announce a new initiative from Aspire Zone that aims to expand the beneficiaries of our programmes for physical activity and sports. Actually, this is the fourth year we organise a sports festival in Ramadan, and the public demand increases every year for more festivities. We were able to convert Ramadan into a month of vigour and vitality during the past three years, and here we are this year. We are organising  a special Ramadan championship for banks, this year and which will be very distinct.”
Al-Athba commented: “We thank Aspire Zone Foundation for continuing to promote sport and other activities for all members of the community regardless of the level of physical fitness, and provide innovative programmes for the public  to change their lifestyle. We hope that this will be the beginning of an ongoing partnership that extends to activities throughout the year and not in Ramadan only. “
AZF is taking care of all the organisational aspects of the tournament in terms of stadiums, referees and all regulatory procedures.The tournament will be held in the indoor pitch at the Aspire Dome after Taraweeh prayers for 10 days from June 22 to July 2.
