HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Philippines President Benigno Aquino on the occasion of the anniversary of his country’s
independence.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani has also sent a cable of congratulations to President Aquino on the occasion.
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his country’s national day anniversary.
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani has also sent a cable of congratulations to President Putin on the occasion.

Qatar, UK discuss Libya situation
HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah yesterday received a telephone call from United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond. They discussed the situation in Libya.
The two ministers underlined their support to the efforts of the UN envoy in Libya which aims at reaching a political agreement between all Libyan parties to find a solution to the current crisis and to maintain the country’s security, stability and territorial integrity.

GCC agricultural panel to meet
HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed
al-Humaidi opens today the 26th meeting of the GCC Agricultural Co-operation Committee, due to be held at the ministerial level. The meeting, which will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, will discuss ways to support and promote agricultural co-operation among GCC countries. It will also discuss issues related to agricultural policies and systems, livestock, fisheries in addition to minutes of the sub-committees of the Agricultural Co-operation Committee.

Swedish FM meets Qatari envoy
Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Margot Wallstrom yesterday met with Qatar’s ambassador to Sweden, Hamad bin Mohamed al-Khalifa. Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.
