Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi met Qatar’s Attorney-General HE Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri, who is visiting Tunisia in his capacity as UN Special Advocate for Stolen Asset Recovery.
They discussed a number of issues pertaining to transitional justice and the rule of law, in addition to discussing the recovery of stolen assets.
During the meeting, the Tunisian president expressed his appreciation for HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s support to the Tunisian people.
Qatar’s Attorney-General also met the Speaker of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, Mohamed Ennaceur, and the First Deputy Abdelfattah Mourou.
They discussed the work of Tunisia’s legislative body, including the developments of a law on the constitutional court and another draft law on counter-terrorism.
For his part, the UN Special Advocate for Stolen Asset Recovery discussed the efforts made by the United Nations in that regard.
He added that Tunisia was proving to be the successful Arab revolution in terms of respecting the law and valuing human rights.
