Aspire Zone, for the second consecutive year, is organising two sessions of its summer event - the Aspire Splash & Dash, which will be open to all members of the community.
Aspire Splash & Dash will enable both amateurs and experienced athletes to stay fit throughout the summer months from July 1 until August 30.
The programme will take place from 7pm to 9pm between July 1 and 22, every Sunday and Wednesday, and from 8pm to 10pm between July 26 and August 30, every Sunday and Wednesday.
The “just-for-fun” sessions are open to men, women and children, and offer all participants the chance to exercise at their own pace inside the Aspire Dome Swimming Pool and at the air-conditioned Indoor Athletics Track.
The mixed swimming pool sessions will welcome up to 50 people a day. Similarly, the athletics track will accommodate another 50 participants.
Abdullah al-Khater, event manager at Aspire Logistics, said: “Because of the summer heat, people can become lazy and choose to remain indoors to cool off. We want to encourage physical activity and sports throughout the year, even during harsh weather, to prove to the community that there is no excuse for not staying in shape.
“By gathering 50 participants at a time, we are also encouraging social interaction in a fun atmosphere.”
For those wishing to participate in the event, the registration fee is QR10 and will be open on site at the Aspire Dome main reception entrance from July 1 to 27 (Sundays and Wednesdays), from 5.30pm to 9pm. Alternatively, one can register online until August 29 by visiting www.lifeinaspire.qa
This event comes as part of Aspire Zone’s indoor fitness initiative in line with its continuous efforts to support and sustain a healthy population by providing open facilities and a variety of year-round community-focused sports activities, according to a statement.
