Interior Ministry’s clarification needed
Dear Sir,
This is with reference to the report headlined “Ministry begins to issue new Residence Cards”, published in Gulf Times on June 16.
It is mentioned in the report that in case one loses the Residence Card while the “holder” is abroad, “ a lost report should be published and the authority concerned abroad informed….”. This point needs to be clarified by the Interior Ministry.
Where should the ‘lost report’ be published? In a newspaper in the country where the card is lost? And who is the “authority concerned abroad” one must inform? Is it the Qatari embassy in the particular country or the local police?
Also, can an expatriate obtain an extra Residence Card, which can be used in case the original one is misplaced or lost?

Support for Qatar is gaining ground
Dear Sir,
The sentiment expressed in the letter, “Embrace Qatar for 2022 World Cup” needs to be applauded.
I have always believed that there is a hidden agenda behind the campaign against Qatar hosting the global event.
The campaign is very well organised with specific targets. It all seems to be orchestrated by a group or groups. But Qatar need not worry at all. The support for Qatar holding the event is gaining by the day, as reports indicate.
The forces that have ganged up against Qatar are bound to lose. Qatar should go ahead with the preparations without any concern or worries.
Also, when Qatar introduces the long-awaited labour reforms, which are expected this year, the criticism will lose its focus and is expected to die down gradually.
All the Arab and Asian countries are behind Qatar. The latest to publicly offer Qatar its full support has been the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC).
