Hyatt Plaza has urged residents to exercise, walk or take a brief stroll inside the mall to maintain a healthy lifestyle, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Hyatt Plaza Walking Club, Qatar’s first dedicated mall walking club launched in December 2012 in co-operation with Aspire Zone, is aimed at motivating people to walk regularly in a safe and temperature-controlled environment.
The initiative also provides Muslim residents with an opportunity to lead an active lifestyle by walking prior to breaking the fast.
In a press statement, the mall’s general manager Feroz Moideen said they want to lead by example in providing more services to the community besides offering shopping options.
He believes the “walk in the mall” will complement and support the country’s vision of creating a healthy nation.
Besides giving gift vouchers and pedometers, the mall offers monthly free health check-ups and briefing sessions to walkers.
Leasing and marketing manager Fuad Shaqadan said those who want to join can register at the customer service desk of the mall and collect their membership cards.
“Families and health enthusiasts can now enjoy a stroll in our shopping mall and get rewarded twice,” he noted.
Shaqadan reiterated the importance of exercising (and low-intensity physical activities) such as walking to prevent obesity, diabetes and other diseases. Members are encouraged to walk every day from 8am to 11am.
Hyatt Plaza also provides active members with a chance to win gift vouchers on the last Saturday of every month. Those who choose to walk more days in a month will have more opportunities of winning the gifts.
The mall’s customer service desk can be reached at 44999666 for more information.
