Ooredoo launches ‘Exchange’

Ooredoo has announced the launch of Ooredoo Exchange, a new feature that will enable Ooredoo Mobile Money customers to send money directly to any bank account or mobile wallet in selected countries.
With the Ooredoo Exchange service, customers can now directly transfer money via Ooredoo’s network to bank accounts in countries that include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal and the Philippines.
Customers can access the service through the USSD (*140#) service menu. The company has also announced that plans are in place to update the Ooredoo Money App with the Ooredoo Exchange service soon, according to a statement.
As an added bonus for the launch of the service, customers can now take advantage of a reduced fee of QR1 per international transfer with the service until the end of July. Users have to dial *140# and select “Ooredoo Exchange” while registering their beneficiaries’ bank account details to send money.
The new Ooredoo Exchange service aims to offer “access to world-class financial services for expatriates in Qatar as well as a secure and convenient alternative to carrying cash”, the statement adds.
New customers can register for free for mobile money by visiting any Ooredoo shop, dialling *140# and entering their QID# or through the free Ooredoo Money App.
Once registered, customers can begin depositing money into their Mobile Wallet via over 200 Ooredoo self-service machines or through any Ooredoo shop.
