A large number of people from different nationalities enjoyed the special activities and shows lined up at Katara - the Cultural Village as part of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
Many people could be seen braving the heat to attend the festivities, whose highlights included ‘The Land of Scholars and Achievements’, show and a fireworks display, among others.
“We have worked hard to give the public a good time - one of fun, entertainment and cultural value. We have also been keen to present our show, ‘The Land of Scholars and Achievements’, in English and Arabic so that visitors from different nationalities enjoy it,” said Salman al-Nuaimi, director of Katara’s Eid festival organising committee.
He stressed that the show, which tells the story of prominent Muslim scientists and their achievements in different ages, sheds light on key aspects of Islamic civilisation and serves as a follow-up to the Ramadan festival,
“Miracle and Achievement”.
The show highlights the innovations and inventions of these scientists, giving members of the public a glimpse of their accomplishments and encouraging them to draw inspiration.
The visitors, on their part, have lauded the show.
Al-Nuaimi noted that the organising committee had taken steps to provide different services and facilities to visitors in a convenient manner. This comes as Katara attracts a large number of visitors from GCC countries.
The fireworks display is another major draw for visitors to Katara. Scores of spectators gather along the Katara Esplanade to watch the fireworks, which lasts around 15 minutes starting at 10pm.
Children, in particular, could be seen having a great time. They are also given gifts by Katara, a gesture that has been appreciated by their parents.
Many people said they loved visiting Katara during Eid despite the hot weather.
