Magar association in Qatar observes 15th anniversary

The Nonresident Nepalese Magar Society (NRNMS) observed its 15th anniversary by organising a cultural programme at Shalimar Palace in Najma on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
The programme coincided with the society’s 11th convention and was attended by distinguished community leaders. The programme was chaired by NRNMS President Mahendra Thapa Magar, while Gyanendra Pun Magar, Secretary of the Nepal Magar Association in Kathmandu, Nepal was the chief guest. About 300 people attended.
The programme kicked off with the greeting dance by artiste Sita Magar. Sita, in Qatar since 2011, said she was proud of wearing her ethnic dress.
The next artiste on stage, Som Thapa Magar, performed a song from Nepali movie Kali. His performance was followed by Hurra and Salaiju dances, performed by a group of artistes.
The society honoured a few artistes on the occasion for promoting Magar arts and culture in Qatar after the performances.
NRNMS also elected a new working committee on the occasion. Mahendra Thapa Magar is the chairman of the 27-member committee. Sher Magar is the senior vice-president, Nilambar Chidi Magar the second chairman, Bijaya Kumar Magar the secretary, Rabin Magar and Bibek Magar co-secretaries, and Kesav Rana Magai is the treasurer.
Avimat Pun Magar, Bhakata Rana Magar, Hem Thapa Magar, Khagi Pun Magar, Laxmi Gharti Magar, Chita Singh Thapa Magar, Min Saru Magar, Ganesh Thapa Magar, Khamba Raj Thapa Magar, Rabi Police Magar, Milan Gharti Magar, Topandar Rahadi Magar, Sukra Police Magar, Gayatri Pun Magar, Iswor Thapa Magar, Bal Hari Rana Magar are on the new working committee as members.
