Eight malls in the country and selected stores at The Pearl-Qatar will offer several promotions including discounts of up to 50% and cash prizes totalling QR700,000 during the month-long Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) 2015.
Participating stores in these malls will be posting the QSF slogan “Colour Your Summer,” which will be visible on their doors or windows throughout the festival.
Organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the event will be held from August 1 to 31.
Shoppers who spend QR200 at any store will be eligible to enter a weekly raffle draw for one of 40 prizes including a BMW 7 Series, a Mini Cooper and two cash prizes, one of QR 50,000 and the other of QR 10,000.
Raffle draws will take place every weekend at Ezdan Mall (August 6), The Mall (August 13), Gulf Mall (August 20), and Villaggio (August 27).
Other participating malls include Hyatt Plaza, Al Khor, The Gate and Landmark. Select stores at The Pearl-Qatar will be participating in the shopping promotions and raffle draws as well.
In addition to the main raffle draw, shoppers will be selected at random to join a side draw that will offer winners shopping vouchers of up to QR5,000.
A shopper’s bill does not have to reach QR200 to be selected for this draw. Many shops and boutiques will also offer “Buy One – Get One Free” promotion.
Besides the discounts and special promotions, lively events are planned around the draws, complete with a variety of shows from violin performances to speed painting.
Additional roaming shows such as the Oriental and Circus parades will continue throughout the week.
QSF targets visitors from around the GCC with a range of entertainment activities for families in a festive, safe environment that reflects their culture and heritage.
“A unique shopping experience is a key factor for tourists selecting their ideal destination, and at this years’ festival, we have worked to ensure malls and retailers are transformed into colourful venues with exciting offers,” QTA festivals and events manager Mashal Shahbik said.
A visitor-centric approach is being adopted by QTA and the Qatar’s hospitality sector with special packages at 26 hotels which include exciting incentives unrivalled in the region and a wide variety of value-added options, making Qatar the leading preferred destination option in the GCC.
