HE the Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali has urged youth to participate in all aspects of public life, calling on governments to empower the youth and enable them to have a bigger role in the development process and in achieving the internationally-agreed sustainable development goals.
In his speech at the celebration of the International Youth Day the Minister affirmed that the leadership of Qatar attaches great attention to young people, who constitute the largest proportion of the population in the State.
The State of Qatar will celebrate today the International Youth Day which is observed on August 12 every year to recognise the efforts of the world’s youth in enhancing global society.
The Ministry of Youth and Sport (MYS) will organise through its Youth Affairs Department more than 20 events over three days under the theme “Youth Participation.”
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry said that the main aim of marking the International Youth Day is to encourage young people to participate in adopting decisions, enhance their role in human development and reduce the gap between young people and otehrs by expanding the scope of dialogue and mutual understanding.
