The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has withdrawn licences granted to six commercial outlets to offer discounts and promotions and fined them QR5,000 each following the detection of violations by these outlets.
Three other shops were also found violating the terms and conditions of the discount licences given to them and were fined QR5,000 each.
The nine violations were detected during an inspection campaign carried out by MEC inspectors at various commercial outlets in Qatar.
The MEC has warned all outlets that have received such licences to offer actual discounts and not to indulge in fraudulent practices or other actions that could be deemed harmful to the interests of consumers.
The ministry has stressed that it will intensify its search campaigns - both sudden and regular - to ensure stricter control over the local market.
