Veteran shooting guard Jason Richardson will sign a non-guaranteed contract with the Atlanta Hawks, sources said.
Richardson, 34, averaged 9.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in a little less than 22 minutes per game in 19 contests last season with the Philadelphia 76ers. Richardson, who has spent 13 seasons in the NBA, visited with the Hawks on Friday and is expected to sign the contract on Monday. Hawks vice chair of the board Grant Hill was a teammate of Richardson’s with the Phoenix Suns.
Richardson has averaged 17.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in his NBA career.
Meanwhile, Injured Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will have a second surgery on his right foot Tuesday and is expected to miss the upcoming season, sources told Yahoo Sports.
The No. 3 overall selection in the 2014 NBA draft missed his entire rookie season after having surgery in June 2014 to repair a stress fracture in the foot.
Embiid, 21, is expected to have a bone graft procedure similar to the foot surgery of Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant.
