QSC will fight for league title this season: al-Zekiba

Qatar Sports Club midfielder Khaled al-Zekiba expressed his satisfaction for the team’s performance during their recent overseas training camp in Spain. “The training camp in Spain has been very good for us. We have reached almost 90% in terms of readiness for the new season. The preparations are going well in view of the work done by individuals responsible for the training camp, be it Hassan al-Ansari, Mesallam al-Hallabi, Jassim al- Hudaifi and Hussein al- Rumaihi. All of them have experience in holding training camps so they made it run very smoothly and successfully.”
On the training facilities in Spain, he said: “In fact, the location of the accommodation and training camp was perfect and everything was available. I consider it one of the best training camps.”
On the readiness of Qatar Sports Club to compete for the league title in the new season, he said: “The club management supported the team by bringing in distinguished players. I expect this season to be very difficult but, we will fight to maintain our position among the top four teams.”
On the new signings, al-Zekiba said: “Definitely both Yagur and Belmeallem have good potential and I see the team in good health as of now.”
He was also delighted over his selection to the Qatar national team. “It’s a great honour and I will do my best to represent my country. I’m looking forward to demonstrate my abilities and give good performances when called upon. I will work on maintaining my spot with the national team. Thanks to Allah I am right now ready to participate in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 and 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifiers.”

Wakrah sign midfielder Ruben Amorim

Al Wakrah has signed Portuguese midfielder Ruben Amorim on loan from Benfica. The Club General Secretary Abdel Aziz al-Obaidly signed the official contract with the player for the duration of one season, with the option to renew.
Amorim arrived in Doha last week and underwent a medical, after which Al Wakrah signed the player. Amorim, 30, is regarded as a solid and versatile midfielder with a high level of technical ability and is known to possess a powerful shot. Over the years, he has represented Benfica and the Portuguese national team with distinction.
