The Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre) participated in the International Youth Day held at Al Barzaan Youth Centre. The UN’s International Youth Day was created at the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth in Lisbon in August 1998.
The event was held in partnership with The Ministry of Youth and sports, Al Faisal CSR Centre, Al Barzaan Youth Centre and the Community Policing Department and attracted more than 100 students who attended the different workshops and activities. Bedaya Centre ran a number of workshops focusing on encouraging creative thinking and ideation with the support of Hamad al-Kuwari.
Reem Khalifa al-Sowaidi, manager of the Bedaya Centre said,“International Youth Day is an important calendar date to raise awareness that the engagement and participation of youth is essential to achieve sustainable development. So often the opportunities for young people to engage politically, economically and socially are low or non-existent and our workshops will aim to motivate those attending to spur them into action to enhance their understanding how they can contribute.”
