Lekhwiya beat Iraq national team

Lekhwiya concluded a series of friendly matches with a win against the Iraq National team yesterday, winning 3-1 at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa stadium.
Lekhwiya’s Yousef Msakni scored the first goal in the 20th minute, and then scored the second goal just before the end of the first half.
In the second half Iraq was able to score their first goal courtesy of  Younis Mahmoud in the 60th minute , but then Lekhwiya replied with another goal when winger Ismael let rip in the 81st minute .
The match against Iraq was the Red Knights last friendly and now the squad will be focusing on the quarter final  Asian Champions League clash against Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia on the 25th of August.


Al Gharafa defeat Nuremberg in preseason friendly
Al Gharafa Sports Club defeated German side FC Nuremberg on Tuesday, beating them 3-1. This match was the Cheetah’s third friendly ahead of the new Qatar Stars League Season which will kick off on the 11 of September.
Nuremberg took the lead on the 16th minute of the first half, after which Al Gharafa responded exactly nine minutes later courtesy of Mohsen al- Yazidi with the equaliser.
The stand out player of the match was Tunisian player Yassine Chikhaoui as well as the Congolese goal machine Alain Dioko who scored twice, first on the 68th minute and then on the 88th minute.
The club’s technical team was keen to field as many players as they could in order to evaluate the players’ level of physical and technical ability.
So far the Cheetahs have scored an impressive 9 goals in just 3 friendly preseason matches.

Al Wakrah to officially unveil their Portuguese signing Rúben Amorim
Al Wakrah will convene an official press conference today at 4pm to introduce their new Portuguese signing Rúben Amorim to the local media.
The conference will give more details on the player’s contract as well as his hopes ahead of the new Qatar Stars League season which will kick off on the 11th of September.
Amorim is a midfield player and he is considered to have great defensive awareness. He will certainly be a welcome addition as the Waves look to shore up a somewhat leaky midfield.
Currently Al Wakrah are in Italy where they are holding their preseason training camp, the Waves took on Italian side Perugia, beating them 4-0 last Tuesday.

Al Sadd to play Al Markhiya Sports Club in preseason friendly
Al Sadd has scheduled a friendly match against Al Markhiya which will be played at 19:00 today on the Wolves training pitch.
 Al Sadd has already played three preseason friendlies prior to this match, first they took on Al-Nasr, and then played out a goalless draw against Al-Ain and finally they played Al-Wahda.
The team continued to train on Tuesday, having two separate sessions. The first session was in the morning and took place inside the club gym. The evening session featured training with the ball on the club’s training pitch. There was more session yesterday where all the players took part with the exception of eight players who are currently with the senior national team and Olympic national teams.

Al Rayyan to play friendly against Umm Salal
Al Rayyan Sports Club will play a friendly match against fellow Qatar Stars League side Umm Salal on the 27th of August ahead of the new Qatar Stars League season which is scheduled to kick off on the 11th of September.
Kick of will be at five in the evening and will be followed a reserve match too.
Meanwhile, Rayyan’s Taher Zakariya has reached the final stages of his treatment after a bad ankle injury that put him out for four months.

Al Sailiya defeat RB Leipzig
Al Sailiya beat RB Leipzig 2-0 yesterday in their second friendly match in Germany. The Peregrines are currently in Europe as part of their preparation ahead of the start of the Qatar Stars League which is set to commence on September 11. Sailiya scored the first goal courtesy of Bahraini international Fawzi Ayesh, and the second was scored by new addition to the squad Brazilian Eder Luciano.

Amar Osim: Al Kharaitiyat are still very much a work in progress
Al Kharaitiyat Head Coach Amar Osim said on the club’s official website that the team needs more work and that the players need to give all their efforts during the remaining period of their overseas preseason training camp in Slovenia.
He said: “The team also needs to work more when we come back from the preseason training camp. Al Kharaitiyat are still very much a work in progress”
The Thunders lost their third friendly game which was against Austrian side Sturm Graz (4-2).
Al Kharaitiyat experimented with two different formations during match, and Osim fielded a mixture of the first and reserve team players.
