Inter Milan signed Felipe Melo, Alex Telles and Adem Ljajic and sold midfielder Hernanes to Juventus late Monday in the closing hours of the Italian transfer market.
Serie A champions Juventus said they paid 11 million euros (12.4 million dollars), plus 2 million in bonuses, for the Brazilian Hernanes.
Brazilians Melo and Telles transferred from Galatasaray, who are said to have cashed 3 million euros for the sale of midfielder Melo, as Serb striker Ljajic signed from Roma, reportedly on a season loan deal of 2 million euros with right of purchase for 9 million euros.
Inter previous signings were defenders Jeison Murillo from Granada, Miranda from Atletico Madrid, Martin Montoya from Barcelona and French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia from Monaco.
Montenegro striker Stevan Jovetic arrived from Manchester City and has scored three goals to help the Nerazzurri win the first two games of the season, while Croat Ivan Perisic has still to debut after signing Sunday from Wolfsburg.
Inter sit top in the Serie A, level on six points with four other teams, while Juve opened the season with two defeats and are still to field German midfielder Sami Khedira, a free agent from Real Madrid who injured himself in a friendly in August.
Former Palermo player Paulo Dybala cost Juve about 40 million euros, about half as much was spent on Mario Mandzukic, from Atletico Madrid, and 18 million euros went to Sassuolo for Simone Zaza as the Bianconeri renovated their attack after the departure of Argentine ace Carlos Tevez.
Recent arrivals in Turin were defender Alex Sandro, from Porto, and midfielders Juan Cuadrado from Chelsea and Mario Lemina from Olympique Marseille.
Roma also got new strikers, signing Moahamed Salah from Chelsea, Iago Falque from Genoa and Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko, on target at the weekend as the Giallorossi beat Juve 2-1.
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny joined Roma from Arsenal and played a great game Sunday along with defender Lucas Digne, who had arrived Wednesday from Paris Saint-Germain ahead of his French compatriot midfielder William Vainqueur, from Dynamo Moscow.
The Rome Giallorossi said they closed their campaign late Monday welcoming striker Ezequiel Ponce of Newell Old Boys and defender Emerson Palmieri, a Brazilian with Italian origins on loan from Santos.
AC Milan hired new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic and brought in strikers Carlos Bacca (Sevilla) and Luiz Adriano (Shakhtar Donetsk), who were both on target at the weekend in a 2-1 defeat of Empoli, while Mario Balotelli returned last week after a dull season at Liverpool.
Young defender Alessio Romagnoli signed from Roma as the Devils welcomed in midfield Andrea Bertolacci and Juraj Kucka, both from Genoa.
A late signing brought striker Alessandro Matri on loan from Milan to Lazio, who had already signed midfielder Ravel Morrison, a free agent from West Ham, forward Ricardo Kishna for 4 million euros from Ajax, and midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, paying 10 million euros to Genk.
Negotiations were conducted at Milan’s Atahotel Executive, where Napoli reportedly failed to purchase international midfielder Roberto Soriano from Sampdoria for 13 million euros as the transfer agreement was registered a few minutes after the 11pm (2100) deadline.
