The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has issued the ‘Pilgrims’ Health Handbook 2015’.
The handbook has been published in co-operation with Qatar Red Crescent and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. It will be distributed among Haj pilgrims from Qatar through the
accompanying medical delegation.
The handbook is also available on the SCH’s website, www.sch.qa
The publication focuses on the preparations required for the trip and health guidelines to be followed before and during travel in order to stay in good health all along.
It includes tips for pilgrims on how to protect themselves from diseases such as infection of the upper respiratory tract, gastrointestinal trouble and food poisoning as well as how to avoid health complications resulting from high
temperatures and heat strokes.
Besides, the guide refers to issues such as skin diseases as well as coronavirus, Ebola and others. Other key information provided includes the basics of first aid, special advice for women and dental health.
The handbook also highlights the recommended vaccinations for pilgrims and has instructions on how to contact the Qatari health
delegation in Makkah.
The book also has a section containing advice for those with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, allergy, retinitis, cardiac disease, epilepsy and others. It gives guidelines on how to stay healthy and avoid complications during Haj.
The handbook has been issued as part of the SCH’s efforts to equip pilgrims from Qatar with the necessary health knowledge during their trip.
