Al Shaqab’s Aba’ath wins Prix Cheri Bibi
Al Shaqab’s Aba’ath yesterday won the Prix Cheri Bibi (Gr3 PA) at La Teste, France. Thomas Fourcy’s charge had to dig deep in the final stages. He found himself caught between Ibn Azadi and RB Burn, but found another gear to win his first Group in style. He should now run in the Qatar Total Arabian Trophy des Poulains (Gr1 PA), on October 2 at Saint Cloud, where he should come up against stable companion Ibn Azadi. “Aba’ath is a horse that is starting to toughen up”, his trainer Thomas Fourcy said. “I think the ground helped him today as he is lacking in strength. He just needs to strengthen up now.”
