HE the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Dr Abdullah Saleh Mubarak al-Khulaifi hailed the stance of GCC states in standing by Qatar in the recent International Labour Organisation (ILO) conference.
He said the stance was instrumental in mobilising international support for Qatar, which resulted in rejecting a protest statement, which alleged discrimination and not taking action over allegations of Qatar’s non-compliance with the Forced Labour Convention.
Al-Khulaifi made the remarks as he addressed the second ministerial meeting of GCC ministers of labour held at the St Regis Hotel.
“Co-ordinating GCC positions made them more powerful and more effective, and led many countries to support us including those that do not have strong ties with us,” the minister said, stressing the continuity of mutual work to build Gulf co-operation and guarantee a better future for next generations in line with the path set by GCC leaders.
