HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, chairman of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment, yesterday chaired the council’s fourth meeting in 2015 at the Emiri Diwan.
HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, who is the vice president of the council, attended the meeting along with HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, the executive member of the council, and members of the council.
HE the Minister of Finance Ali Sherif al-Emadi, who is the council’s secretary general, said the meeting discussed topics on the agenda and took the necessary measures.
Speaking to QNA, al-Emadi said the council reviewed developments of energy affairs regarding oil and gas projects as well as developments of investment affairs.
The council also discussed a proposal by Qatar Central Bank (QCB) to grant licences to open branches for GCC banks in Qatar. The council approved the proposal, with licences set to be granted according to QCB requirements.
The meeting discussed a project to build 2,000 residential villas in the southern region of Doha on an area of 2,500,000sq m at a cost of QR10bn over four
years.
Qatar Development Bank will manage the project and offer tenders to the private sector for construction, infrastructure and service facilities. The villas will be designed according to different models and at appropriate prices, and will be allocated to Qataris who are under the umbrella of the housing system.
HH the Emir gave directives to take all the necessary measures to start the project.
