Career guidance paves the way for prosperous future

Qatar Career Fair (QCF), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), has successfully concluded its third Summer Career Camp.
A closing ceremony was recently held at Education City’s Recreation Centre, during which, certificates were presented to the participating Qatari students, in the presence of their parents.
Taking place over two weeks, the camp equipped students with a range of skills and abilities that were designed to benefit their academic and professional lives. The workshops particularly centred on career guidance and advice, paving the way for a prosperous future. Instructors also tackled several topics of particular interest, such as mental and emotional intelligence, goal planning, and career development.
During the ceremony, Saad Abdullah al-Kharji, head of operations at Qatar Career Fair, reiterated the mission of to lend a helping hand to students, equipping and providing them with the knowledge and skills that will encourage smart decision-making and choices that reflect positively on their academic and professional futures.
“Qatar Career Fair’s programmes and activities fall under Qatar Foundation’s continuous efforts in serving the local community, empowering Qataris to overcome challenges and excel. Our vision is in-line with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which includes helping Qatari individuals, and developing their talents while harnessing them for the benefit of the wider community.”
In order to facilitate this, site visits and job shadowing opportunities at leading organisations and institutions in Qatar were organised during the Summer Career Camp, providing students with first-hand experience of workplace environments and career life. Visits to RasGas, Al Jazeera Media Training and Development Centre, Qatar National Bank, and Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar offered participants an in-depth insight into the medical, media, banking, and energy sectors.
Dr Kholode al-Obaidli, vice president of National Talent Management at Qatar Airways and one of the participants’ parents, said: “The third Summer Career Camp was filled with activities and workshops that I believe will greatly benefit my son’s career trajectory; the very reason why we registered him for this year’s edition.”
Sharing personal experience and feedback around the camp, a number of students expressed their gratitude to the QCF initiative. Abdullah al-Kuwari, one of the participating students, said: “We truly appreciate the academic and career guidance that we received during the camp. The workshops and various activities that we took part in really facilitated our decision-making in choosing our future career direction and path in the Qatari job market, and offered us benchmarks and guidelines.”
Additionally, parents thanked Qatar Foundation and QCF for organising the third Summer Career Camp, expressing their appreciation of such initiatives that work in career awareness and skill development for their children.
