Emiri decision on human rights panel

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued Emiri Decision No 40, forming the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC).
Its members are Dr Ali Said Samikh al-Marri, Dr Yousef Mohamed Obaidan Fakhro, Dr Mohamed Saif al-Kuwari, Asmaa Abdullah Mohamed al-Attiyah, Judge Fawaz Bakhit al-Jattal, Dr Abdulaziz Abdulqader al-Mughaiseeb, Amal Abdullatif al-Mannai, Abdulrahman Mohamed Faisal al-Suwaidi, Mariam Abdullah Ali al-Attiyah (all representatives of the civil society), Sheikh Khalid bin Jassim al-Thani (representative of the Foreign Ministry), Abdullah Saqr al-Mohannadi (representative of the Ministry of Interior), Mohamed Hassan al-Obaidly (representative of the Ministry of Justice) and Saleh Said Hamad al Shawi (representative of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs).
The decision also stipulates that the committee choose a president and vice president from its civil society representative members. The committee membership’s term is for three years which is a renewable.
The decision is operative from the date of issue and is to be published in the official gazette.

New envoys appointed
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued decisions appointing Zayed Saeed Rashid al-Kmeit al-Khayareen as Qatar’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Iraq, Hadi Nasser Mansour Khalil al-Hajri as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates and Ahmed Saif Saif Khalaf al-Maadadi as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Poland.

Ambassadors transferred
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued decisions transferring Mohamed Ali Sultan al-Ali al-Maadeed, Qatar’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Singapore and Jassim Ali Abdullah al-Obaidly, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Philippines as ambassadors at the Foreign Ministry headquarters.

Decisions ratified
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani ratified Cabinet Decision No 29 of 2015 on amending the organisation of some administrative units that form the Ministry of Energy and Industry and specifying their powers.
The Emir also ratified decisions on amending the organisation of some administrative units that form the Ministry of Environment and on the regulation of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp (Kahramaa).

Retirement law ratified
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani ratified Cabinet Decision No 30 of 2015 on the application of provisions of Law No 24 of 2002 regarding retirement and pensions on Qatari employees of Sheikh Eid bin Mohamed al-Thani Charitable Association.
