Dovgun edges out Ali al-Muhannadi for 50m rifle gold

Vitaliy Dovgun claimed the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions gold medal at the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association Cup at the Losail Ranges yesterday.
Dovgun and Ali Rashid al-Muhannadi were involved in a gripping battle for the top honours but it was the former who managed to hold his nerves and emerge the winner yesterday. He posted 450.8 to win by just 1.1 points.
Delighted Dovgun said: “It was a nice training before the next step. All of us are now preparing for the last chance to go to the Olympic Games in Rio.”
Oleg Engachev added another gold medal to his tally with a new national record, while Mohamed Saad al-Mubarak bagged the Junior Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions title.
