Qatar University College of Law (QU-LAWC) continues to implement a number of strategies to ensure its students’ competitiveness for the fast-growing labour market, a senior official said yesterday.
“The college offers learning and research experiences that unlock the students’ potential, motivating them towards academic and professional excellence,” explained dean Dr Mohamed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi at a media briefing.
The college enjoyed a number of achievements during the academic year 2014-15 such as the launch of two new graduate programmes for Fall 2015 -- a Master’s in Private Law and one in Public Law - and the establishment of a number of professional development courses in co-operation with QU Continuing Education Office.
Dr al-Khulaifi noted the college’s efforts in fostering an excellent research environment that stimulates creativity and innovation through collaborations with academic organisations from the private and public sectors and with researchers from institutions in Qatar and beyond.
On the college’s research successes, Dr al-Khulaifi noted that a National Priorities Research Programme award of more than $500,000 was won by a faculty team for research on Qatar’s Legal Preparedness to Host the FIFA 2022 World Cup.
The college’s Centre for Energy and Sustainability Law successfully achieved $34,000 grant from Qatar Petroleum Development Company.
