Qatar called on the international community to take steps to protect the Palestinian people and defend their right of having an independent state.
Qatar condemned violations by Israel against the Palestinian people. The latest was the storming of Al Aqsa mosque, which provokes millions of Muslims around the world. This came during a statement delivered by Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva Faisal bin Abdullah al-Henzab during a session held as part of the 30th session of the Human Rights Council.
Al-Henzab said the council is in session during a time of increased human rights violations across the globe, which requires the international community to act.
He added extremism was on the rise in the world today and people of different races and religions were suffering because of that.
Referring to the Syrian conflict, he said the fact the crisis is in its fifth year with no resolution looming on the horizon reflects the international community’s failure as well as a lack of political will to end the crisis.
The result, he added, was a disastrous humanitarian condition for the Syrian people after 250,000 were killed and millions more displaced.
