By Sports Reporter/Doha

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships held final meetings yesterday led by Qatar Boxing Federation (QBF) president and LOC executive director Yousuf Ali al-Kazam with the various subcommittees of the World Boxing Championships. The Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships will be held in the Ali bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Arena from October 5 to 15, 2015.
The LOC reviewed the outcomes following the AIBA delegation’s final co-ordination visit, which took place September 2-9 and was headed by AIBA executive director Karim Bouzidi. During the delegation’s final visit ahead of the World Boxing Championships, they visited the state-of-the-art venue which has already hosted the successful 24th Men’s Handball World Championships in January this year.
The delegation also held several co-ordination meetings with various working teams of the LOC, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the AIBA World Boxing Championships are held up to international standards and exceed expectations. They met with the marketing and public relations teams of the LOC and were satisfied with the plans in place ahead of the World Championships which are now only weeks away.
The team also complimented Qatar’s proven track record of hosting major international sporting events on a world-class level and they expressed their confidence in the success of the Doha 2015AIBA World Boxing Championships.
This is the first time in history that the World Boxing Championships will be hosted in the Middle East and will feature 260 of the world’s best boxers. The Championships will also serve as a qualifying event for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for 23 successful boxers.
