Mishal briefs Emir on crisis

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday received a telephone call from Hamas leader Khalid Mishal.
Mishal briefed the Emir on the latest developments in Palestine in the light of the dangerous Israeli escalation in Jerusalem after Israeli forces stormed the Al Aqsa Mosque and assaulted worshipers.
The Hamas leader appealed to the Emir to work with the international community for taking urgent and effective measures to protect the Palestinian people and Al Aqsa Mosque.
The Emir strongly denounced the Israeli aggression, its acts of provocation in Jerusalem and the attempt to divide the Al Aqsa Mosque according to zones and times. He stressed Qatar’s support for the brotherly Palestinian people in facing such an aggression.
Mishal thanked Qatar’s leadership and people for their firm position in support for the Palestinian people and their just cause.

Cables of greetings

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulations to Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega on the occasion of the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day.
The three leaders also sent cables of congratulations to El Salvador President Salvador Sanchez Ceren on the occasion of his country’s National Day.

Minister meets ILO official

HE the Minister of Justice Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi yesterday met Deputy Director General of the International Labour Organisation Gilbert Houngbo and his delegation.
During the meeting, they reviewed areas of co-operation between the Ministry of Justice and the ILO, especially in the legislative and legal fields.
They also discussed signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and the organisation to provide support in training jurists working in the labour field and in labour dispute resolution system.
