MoI fetes contest winners

Participants, winners and jury members being honoured on the occasion.

The Police Training Institute (PTI), under the auspices of Director-General of Public Security (DGPS) Staff Maj Gen Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, held a ceremony on Sunday to honour the winners and participants of the Ministry of Interior (MoI)’s fourth research contest.
The ceremony was attended by directors of different departments of the ministry. The 2015 contest was held under the theme ‘The role of social establishments in preventing rumours’.
Maj Abdul Aziz Ali al-Mohannadi, assistant director of PTI, welcomed the gathering and stressed that the competition was held to emphasise the MoI’s commitment to strengthening community partnership and conducting research on security-related issues in order to find suitable solutions and contribute to the prevention of security threats.
He added that some 26 research works were submitted by participants, who included citizens as well as residents. Winners were selected from two categories - three citizens and three residents.
Col Ahmad Zayed al-Mohannadi, director of the Community Policing Department and one of the winners of the contest, said the topic proposed for the research contest was a significant one and it required the attention of community members in order to prevent rumours.
He expressed gratitude to the MoI on behalf of the participants for conducting the competition as well as the jury for its sincere efforts.
The DGPS also honoured the jury members, including Brig Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah, director of the Public Relations Department and head of the jury; Dr Mohamed Queerat, Qatar University (QU); Dr Hussam Eddin al-Samrai, Daawa department of Awqaf; and Sheikha Al Anoud bint Faisal al-Thani, head of the research and studies section in the Public Relations Department.
The director-general also honoured the Qatari winners. While Lt Mohamed Nasser al-Khalifa from the MoI’s Strategic Planning Department won the first place, Col al-Mohannadi of the Community Policing Department claimed the second spot. Students Nouf Yusuf Jassim al-Mansouri and Jassim Yusuf al-Manouri from Newton International School and Dana Yusuf Jassim al-Mansouri from Gharnata Preparatory School shared the third place.
Among residents, Dr Mohamed Alsayed Mursi, legal adviser at Al Rayyan Castle, won the first place. Dr Abdul Wahab al-Waqi al-Joali from the MoI’s Medical Services Department finished second while Dr Majidi Atif Mahfouz and Dr Mahmoud Abdul Jawad, from the College of Arts and Sciences at QU, won the third place.
The heads and members of the jury of the previous research contest were also honoured on the occasion. They included Brig Dr Mohamed Abdullah al-Mohanna al-Marri, director-general of the Police College, Lt Col Nasser Misfer al-Qahtani, Capt Buna Ali al-Khulaifi, Dr Asma al-Mohannadi, Dr Salah Sultan Almannai, Dr Bashir Saad Zaghlul and Prof Ghada Ibrahim al-Maliki.
Meanwhile, Maj al-Mohannadi honoured the supervisory committee of the contest, who hailed from the studies and research section of PTI and included Ft Lt Nasser Sabah al-Noaimi, head of the section, Muthanna Saleh al-Awlaqi, Prof Hani Hamdan Abdul Jawad and Prof Fatouh Ewadh Ahmad.
