QIFF’s Indian football tournament begins

The ninth edition of the Indian Football Tournament for the Western Union City Exchange Trophy, an annual event organized by Qatar Indian Football Forum (QIFF), an expatriate organisation to promote football events among Indian community in Qatar, has started at Doha stadium.
The formal inaugural function of the tournament was held on Friday at Doha Stadium.
City Exchange Company CEO Sharaf P Hameed inaugurated the tournament.
Also present at the ceremony were Captain Riyadh Ahmed Saleh (Traffic department), Saud Nasser al-Emadi (Qatar 2022), First Lieutenant Waleed Ali (Qatar Police Sports), First Lieutenant Waleed al-Thameem (Coast Guard), Lieutenant Rashid (Ministry of Interior), Mohamed Ali Jaghman (Community Police), Abdulla al-Mohannadi, Jamaal Darjani, Sara Odeh (QFA), Ibrahim al-Malki, Shamsudheen Olakara and K Mohamed Essa.
Altogether 16 football teams representing various districts of the Indian state of Kerala are participating in this year’s tournament and the matches will be held through all Thursdays and Fridays until November 13. The final will be held at Qatar Sports Club.
A magic performance in support of Qatar 2022 added colour to the inaugural ceremony.  Several sports and other distinguished personalities from Qatar graced the event while about 5,000 people attended on the first day.
QIFF (Qatar Indian Football Forum) has organised the 9th edition tournament with the approval and co-operation of Qatar Football Association (QFA). QIFF started the Indian football tournament for the expatriate community since 2007.
