The participation of the Netherlands in the upcoming second Katara European Jazz Festival was discussed at a high-level meeting on Sunday.
The meeting was held between Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara – the Cultural Village, and Yvette Burghgraef-Van Eechoud, ambassador of the Netherlands.
Renowned Dutch musician Michiel Borstlap will take part in the festival, the envoy said.
During the meeting, the officials discussed the participation of the Netherlands in the festival along with Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.   
Each of the embassies representing these nations will bring to Doha one jazz group to participate in the event, which will include a number of special evening shows by jazz musicians and workshops at Qatar Music Academy with
local music students.
In this context, Dr al-Sulaiti said: “Katara is keen to host diverse activities in line with its vision of bridging the gap among people and enriching the principles of being open to cultures and civilisations. The Katara European Jazz Festival will be a great space for jazz lovers to meet prominent jazz musicians and bands.”
On her part, the envoy said: “We are really glad to take part in the second edition of the dazzling event at Katara, the European Jazz Festival.”
She expressed hope that the second edition of the festival would be as unique as the first one and register a significant turnout of attendees.
