Ooredoo showcases ‘smart fleet’ solutions

Ooredoo outlined its vision for the “smart fleet” future of Qatar, which would see transport companies use a range of innovative machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions, during a special discussion at Qatar Transport Forum, held by the Ministry of Transport in Doha last week.
It was the fourth edition of the event, and Ooredoo was both the official telecom partner and a leading transport communications enabler, showcasing its growing portfolio of smart transport solutions for delegates, according to a statement from the company.
“Ooredoo’s Smart Fleet Management Solution is an innovative cloud-based service that deploys GPS and GSM technology to centralise and manage all transport-related information, so that companies can plan fleet activities, reduce operational costs and optimise resources,” the statement added.
Speaking about the event, Waleed al-Sayed, COO of Ooredoo Qatar, said: “By enhancing Qatar’s transport sector with our host of communications services, Ooredoo is boosting the knowledge-based economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
“Our newly-launched Fleet Management Solution has been designed to fit the needs of any company that deploys a fleet of vehicles. We believe Qatar can transform its transport sector by using the next generation of M2M solutions, reducing traffic pressure and travel risks, and ensuring smoother transport by road, rail, sea and air.”
The annual Qatar Transport Forum was held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani. It highlighted major transport plans, initiatives and projects such as the Hamad Port, Civil Aviation Authority and Qatar Rail, among others.
