Aspire Zone’s Eid activities attract 13,000 people

Doha

Aspire Zone Foundation’s activities for Eid al-Adha, which concluded, attracted around 13,000 people during its six-day celebration.

“Such events are an important part of Aspire Zone Foundation’s ongoing engagement with the local community and reflect its increasing popularity as a destination for families to celebrate Eid and other occasions,” Aspire said in a statement.

The programme of activities attracted a large number of families and offered a broad range of activities such as paddle boating and a variety of water sports shows, as well as performances that took place on the second day of Eid.

Children enjoyed pony rides, while the remote controlled car races “added a sense of excitement and brought something new to this year’s programme.”

“These proved to be very popular in attracting participants as well as spectators,” Aspire said.

“Families were able to mix fun with fitness during Eid al-Adha since many of the facilities were opened to the public. Access to fields, courts, and pitches allowed sports enthusiasts to enjoy football, basketball, volleyball, and other games.

“Other facilities included the Aspire Zone public football pitches in Aspire Park and near Khalifa stadium, tennis courts in the ladies’ club, and the multipurpose facility for basketball and volleyball in Aspire Park.”

Aspire said the public can look forward to a “busy programme of activities,” which is expected to continue in the coming months as Aspire Zone Foundation will be organising and hosting a number of events, including Qatar’s strongest man in November and the 50km World Championship in December.

“These are in addition to ongoing programmes and activities such as the Aquathon, Run the Park, Splash and Dash, and cycling in Aspire.”
