Barcelona and Bayern Munich enjoyed encouraging home wins yesterday in the Champions League, against Bayer Leverkusen and Dynamo Zagreb.
Defending champions Barcelona, without the injured Lionel Messi, came from behind to beat Leverkusen 2-1 on late goals from Sergi Roberto and Luis Suarez. Bayern caned Zagreb 5-0 with a hat-trick from the in-form Robert Lewandowski plus goals from Douglas Costa and Mario Goetze.
English woes in the competition continued, with Chelsea crashing 2-1 at Porto on goals from Andre and Maicon, and Arsenal losing 3-2 at home to lively Olympiakos. After losing their opening game to Dinamo Zagreb two weeks ago, Arsenal are bottom of Group F, six points behind leaders Bayern Munich, who they have to play twice.
Valencia won 1-0 yesterday at Lyon, Roma crashed 3-2 at BATE Borisov and Zenit beat Gent 2-1.
