The Bangladesh government has formed a special unit of police to investigate the murder of an Italian national who was shot dead in Dhaka’s Gulshan diplomatic enclave on September 28.
The formation of the special unit with officials from different branches of police was aimed at expediting the murder investigation, Xinhua news agency quoted a police statement as saying.
At a high-level meeting at the police headquarters in Dhaka, relevant government officials decided to form the unit, the statement said.
Italian woman Tavela Ceaser was shot dead on Monday in Dhaka’s diplomatic enclave Gulshan.
Ceaser, 50, who was shot thrice while jogging along a Gulshan street, has been working for an international organisation.
Islamic State has claimed the responsibility for the killing in an online statement.
