The standing committee on Arab culture concluded its meeting in Doha yesterday.
The two-day meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, in co-operation with Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO).
The meeting discussed the Arab decade for cultural right and to develop a vision to identify the most important features of this decade, so as to make the Doha discussions a start of the first practical steps towards adoption of the Arab decade.
Speaking to QNA, Dr Hayat al-Qurmazy, director, Department of Culture, ALECSO, said the meeting discussed perceptions presented by representatives of Arab states and members of the committee. The panel was formed during the standing committee on Arab culture meeting held here last May. The representatives hailed from Jordan, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Lebanon and Egypt.
This meeting came as a road map for the Arab decade for the cultural right, she added ,saying the outcomes of this meeting will be submitted to the members of the standing committee on Arab culture, so as to be approved by the ALECSO.
She also said that the outcomes would also be submitted to the ministers responsible for cultural affairs in the Arab World during the 20th session, which will be held in Tunis by the end of 2016.
