Youth and Sports Minister reviews preparations for IPC athletics at Qatar Sports Club

HE Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali yesterday inspected the Qatar Sports Club which will host the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships, organised by Qatar Federation for People with Special Needs during the period from October 22 to 31. The tournament is held for the first time in the Middle East with the participation of 1,400 athletes from 100 countries around the world.
HE Dr Thani al-Kuwari, head of the organising committee of the Championship and the Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee, and members of the organising committee, briefed His Excellency the Minister on what has been accomplished by the technical working committees and highlighted the ongoing preparations before the tournament.
HE the Minister during the tour stressed that Qatar’s hosting of this tournament will contribute to achieving the objectives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in strengthening Qatar’s leadership as global sports destination, and will reflect the readiness of Doha to host the most important sporting events in the world.
HE the Minister hoped that the national team will make a great achievement in this tournament and qualify for the Paralympic Games which will be held next year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
