The high-octane excitement and pounding adrenaline of the Red Bull Car Park Drift Championship returns to Qatar on November 6, 2015, under the patronage of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and with the sportive support of drifting legend, Abdo Feghali.
After a break of 5 years, the Middle East drifting tournament will search for the best drifter in Qatar at the Losail International Circuit from 7:30 to 10:00pm. The winner will then meet with the best drifters from 7 other countries on November 20, 2015 in Dubai to crown their Middle East drifting champion at Red Bull Car Park Drift Final 2015. Since 2008, Red Bull Car Park Drift gives all drifters the chance to follow their passion in a safe environment.
“We are delighted to support Red Bull Car Park Drift Championship in Doha and to see such an interest from Qatar’s drifting community. This event is a great way for people to interact, have some fun and portray their skills in a safe way and safe environment,“ said QMMF president and FIA vice president Nasser Khalifa al-Attiyah, while encouraging all drivers to drive responsibly and observe road safety.
Al-Attiyah requested all drifting fans to use only designated areas for these activities and to always be very cautious and considerate of other road users when driving on pubic roads.
As many as 25 amateur drivers will showcase their drifting skills based on: their engines’ roars, the external look of their cars, the smoke produced by the friction of the tires and the audience’s excitement and cheers for their performances.
The event, which is being sponsored by Ford Middle East, Pirelli and Shop & Ship with the Media support of Qatar Happening, Qatar Living, I Love Qatar and What’s Goin’ On Qatar, is open to public with free entrance and will be supervised by Lebanese drifting legend Abdo Feghali, the Middle East Hill Climbing champion who holds the world’s longest vehicle drift record.
“The upcoming Qatar Red Bull Car Park Drift Championship represents everything that makes this sport so amazing: exciting competitiveness, precision handling, and amazing fans that come to cheer for their favourite drivers. But it’s the commitment to safety that sets new standards for this Red Bull event that makes me proud to be a part of,” said Abdo.
On the track, speed lovers will have the opportunity to showcase their unique drift techniques and the competition will be judged by a panel of experts in motorsports where they will give out points to each driver depending on his unique accomplishments.
The winner will be named Qatar’s Car Park Drift Champion and will have 2 weeks to get ready to compete against other winners from the Middle East in the regional championship that will be held in Dubai. Before landing in Qatar, qualifying rounds took place at the start of the year in UAE, Tunisia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritius, Jordan, Oman and Egypt.
